The Board of Directors of Legal Initiatives for Vietnam (LIV) is pleased to announce that Mr. Trịnh Hữu Long has been appointed Executive Director, effective January 1, 2026, for a three (3)-year term.
Mr. Trịnh Hữu Long is a co-founder of LIV and previously served as Co-Director, helping shape the organization’s strategic direction, develop core programs, and expand LIV’s network of partners and supporters.
Prior to this appointment, Mr. Trịnh Hữu Long served as LIV’s Interim Executive Director from February through December 2025, working with the LIV team to maintain operations, strengthen internal governance, and steer strategic priorities during a period of significant uncertainty.
This appointment comes at a time when many civil society organizations and independent media initiatives are facing a funding crisis. Shifting donor priorities and broader resource constraints have placed significant pressure on long-term programming and underscore the need for organizations to adapt in order to remain resilient and mission-driven.
During this new term, LIV will prioritize a core organizational strategy: diversifying revenue to reduce reliance on a limited number of traditional funding streams and to strengthen the organization’s independence and sustainability. This strategy includes expanding mission-aligned revenue channels such as reader and community contributions, membership programs, service-based partnerships consistent with LIV’s mission, and long-term fundraising efforts, while continuing to pursue transparent and values-aligned donor support.
As Executive Director, Mr. Long will oversee LIV’s operations, execute organizational strategy, deepen partnerships, and support the sustainability of LIV’s programs in service of LIV’s mission to promote independent journalism.
